Making Sense of the American Civil War (also at Blair-Caldwell, 720-865-2401)
Denver Public Library is one of 150 libraries nationwide that will be hosting this new 5-part discussion series. It will use books and scholar led-discussion as an entry into serious thought, discussion, and further reading. It will also offer an occasion to bring diverse groups together at the library to examine the modern implications of the Civil War and emancipation. Discover this pivotal period of American history with your community. This series is a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. Please contact the branch to register and receive information about the books to be discussed.

Join a librarian and other lifelong readers as we read books and poems aloud together. The reading will stop periodically to allow for discussion and reflection. Perfect for adults who are experiencing trouble with reading as they get older (because of vision problems or dementia, for example). Also for people who simply want a social outlet that revolves around books. Everyone who loves books is welcome!
